We provide support to teachers, students, and administrators through professional development opportunities, the dissemination of field-specific expertise in English language teaching and learning, and various types of advocacy that is related to the entire profession. TexTESOL V is dedicated to serve its members and the ESL community in North Texas. We are grateful for all who continue to support our mission.
Some highlights from the State Conference this year.
The students pictured here also packed the room as they told their stories of their journey from refugee to fluent English speakers in what is believed to be an impossibly short time proving once again that there is no substitute for motivation, talent, and great instruction.

Region V TexTESOLer of the Year: Les Brinkerhoff Leslie A. Brinkerhoff, Jr oversees the Continuing Education Program at Mountain View College in Dallas, Texas. He teaches credit classes for upper level writing courses for the ESOL program there as well. Prior to working at Mountain View College, he worked in several countries in Africa, particularly francophone countries, as a literacy consultant assisting local communities in the development of literacy programs fitted to local cultures, languages in use, and other environmental factors. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Linguistics from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Bachelor’s degree in French from Houghton College in New York State. He is fluent in French and has an intermediate ability to communicate in Spanish.
