Meet TCALL | By Cindy Brennan, Adult Education Representative
If you teach adult literacy in Texas, you probably know the name TCALL. TCALL stands for Texas Center for the Advancement of Literacy and Learning. It is part of Texas A&M University and provides leadership to adult literacy programs throughout the state. TCALL provides several invaluable resources, available to adult education teachers through this agency. There are two that I find especially helpful:
1. 2009 Texas Adult & Family Literacy Quarterly Index: This is an online journal filled with timely, practical articles on teaching methods as well as inspirational profiles of lives changed through adult literacy. Follow this link to visit the journal site:

2. Project GREAT is the professional development arm of TCALL. It operates several regional GREAT centers. TexTESOL V members are served by the North region. Project GREAT has ongoing staff development opportunities available at no charge for practitioners of adult literacy. The link to access this information is http://www-tcall.tamu.edu/projectgreat/north/calendar.htm
I hope you find these resources helpful as you begin a new term of making a difference in the lives of adults in our community.
